Privacy Policy

The Button is operated by Syntax Circus, LLC ("we," "us," and "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we process information when you use The Button app and this website.

Information we process

We create an anonymous profile and installation credential so the app can work without a conventional account. We also process your selected coarse region, app platform, and service-use timestamps.

Depending on the features you use, we process notification tokens and preferences; press timestamps and status; optional messages; reports and block records; purchase-verification and refund information; moderation results; and reliability, security, and abuse-prevention diagnostics.

How we use information

We use this information to operate the shared streak, deliver requested notifications, complete and reverse purchases, moderate messages, respond to reports and support requests, prevent misuse, maintain security, and improve reliability.

Service providers and disclosures

We use service providers that help us provide app-store purchases, purchase verification, push notifications, hosting and infrastructure, customer support, and automated content moderation. They may process information only as needed to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect users, the service, or our rights.

What we do not collect

We do not use advertising IDs or hardware fingerprints to track you, and we do not create a profile that follows you after you reinstall the app. Reinstalling creates a new anonymous profile.

Retention and deletion

We keep information only for as long as needed for the purposes above. You can delete your profile in Settings or submit a web deletion request. When we delete a profile, we delete the profile, installation credential, region, push tokens, profile-linked blocks and reports, and message text associated with its presses.

To preserve the shared streak and meet financial, fraud-prevention, and legal obligations, we may retain press timestamps, status, and purchase or moderation records after removing the active profile link and message content. We may also retain limited deletion-request and audit records to document the request and comply with legal obligations.

Your choices and questions

You can manage notifications in the app. For privacy questions or requests, email support@syntaxcircus.com. We will handle requests in accordance with applicable law.

Children

The Button is for people age 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service changes. We will post the updated policy here and revise its effective date.
